Dancing has always been my favorite activity. I thought that dancing was lost to me forever after low back surgery ten years ago, and a cervical disk fusion six years ago. I cautiously started a yoga practice a few years ago and found myself gaining strength and confidence. The day I discovered Nia, my son and I were on our way to our morning Yoga class and wefound that the schedule had changed. A new class was taking place. We had never heard of Nia, but decided to give it a try. The class was so incredible - we laughed and danced all day! Nia had entered my life and brought back the Joy of Movement that I thought was gone for good. I decided right then and there that Nia was the movement form I had been searching for, and I began dancing down my path to become a Nia teacher.I am now a licensed Blue Belt Teacher, Certified as a Green Belt, and going for the next level in 2011. At 53 years old, I have never felt stronger, more coordinated, flexible, confident, and alive! Teaching Nia to people of all ages, from pre-school to the elderly, has given me the great joy of sharing what I love. I invite you to take off your shoes and join me!
